Winter in Alaska is magical. Think Aurora Borealis, walking with reindeer<\/a>, ice sculpting competitions<\/a>, and dog sledding. And then there\u2019s the winter driving in Alaska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was in Fairbanks, Alaska<\/a>, last February for a conference and rented a vehicle. Little did I know that the rules of the road for winter driving in Alaska could be so different from driving in my hometown of Denver. Still, I loved having wheels and freedom to explore\u2014at times, with white knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though I live in Colorado, I\u2019m not a fan of driving in the snow. So, I listened closely as a staff member with Explore Fairbanks shared tips about motoring around before I picked up my rented 2020 Nissan Rogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
